A lot of news has been emerging about the crises that coral reef ecosystems of the world are facing. Those of us in NUS and the local biodiversity community (I inform them through ecotax) are lucky to have two prominent coral reef scientists come through to tell us about it first hand.
Clive Wilkinson ("Status of Coral Reefs of the World") drops in next week and Terry Hughes ("History, ecology and the state of the world's oceans") will speak in June. The latter will be a public talk.
To keep tabs, just see the Meetings of the Biodiversity & Ecology webpage (yeah I used a blog engine for that too, complete with an rss feed) or sign up with ecotax there for a reminder.
