Raffles Museum's Mr Yeo Keng Loo, RIP

Category : Singapore Naturalist

I had finished breakfast in the NUS Science Canteen this morning when I received an SMS from Heok Hui that said "hi siva, mr yeo passed away on sat." My heart went still for a moment then I quickly went up to the museum.

In the office, I saw Greasi, Rahim and Makcik gathered. Rahim was talking about his Ah Yeo and him were just joking last Friday. Kelvin Was quiet, eventually sayng that Yeo had agreed to do something with him that morning.

Yeo had left us very suddently we were all shocked. I felt it was a good way to go - a heart attack during his regular Saturday badminton game, but felt it was about two decades too early.

I penned an email to the museum volunteers and friends and then forwarded it to some staff before posting it on Raffles Museum news.

Besides the many international researchers, I have to send it out on Habitatnews as well, for there are many who had worked or interacted with Mr Yeo locally. He was a part of the museum's entity, you know, one of the people we had all felt would always be here. He was a shy man but was always kind and friendly to and very appreciative of the museum's volunteers and friends.

It's a real sad day and I will miss him very, very much.
