Briskwalk record set today - 1:33

Category : Singapore Naturalist

This Sunday morning I attacked the trail with a vengeance. It was merely my second walk this year with my fornightly briskwalkers from MacRitchie to Bukit Timah. Last session I clocked 1:36 at the summit of Bukit Timah, a mere minute off my all time low. Cycling must have kept me in shape during the long hiatus.

There are four legs in our walk, and the first is MacRitchie Nature Trail followed by a trail through the Catchment, Rifle Range Road and Catchment Path to the summit of Bukit Timah.

Two weeks ago, I clocked 31 minutes for MacRitchie but despite my best efforts Sunday morning, only only managed to shave off two minutes. I am now wondering if the old timings of 25 minutes are a figment of my imagination.

The other legs were so-so, nothing special I felt but, in the end I clocked 1:33, a new record for myself, and our fastest walker made 1:29, with our last reaching the summit at 1:38 - fast times indeed. So everyone was pulled along by the faster pace, which was a very good sign. Missioned accomplished.

When I away, the pace had been slowing down. I decided I needed to concentrate on setting a pace and to inculcate an awareness of timing especially amongst out fast new walkers.

Surprisingly I coped today. And it seems to work! But I'm aching...
