||The Hopea sangal sculpture project is almost completed. A desire to submit feedback to URA about the Rustic Coast Plan in July 2002 led to the discovery of the tree. Then came its tragic felling, the court case, a sculpture born of the recovered logs and now a final resting place.
In two days, we will feel a sense of completion. Its been fun working as a foursome - reps from NSS, Sculpture Society, NParks and NUS, working with a desire to do the right thing. That made it enjoyable despite the stress!
And it's this committee (and some friends) that ran around, which is going to teach on Wednesday's unveiling of the sculpture. I have to figure my part out as well.
It looks like after the launch, we will still have links with the education programme. The programme we offer will provide marginal elements of arts, science and creativity. If we pull it off well, we'd want to offer it as a service learning project to a school - to improve or better still, reinvent!
