|This morning (19 Oct 2004), I looked for an old road that used to run behind Lim Chu Kang mangroves. It's still there but its entrance has been blocked to vehicles by a mound of soil, scooped up fro nearby, creating a freshwater pond I can wash up with in future if I get really muddy.
The secondary forest has begin reclaiming some part of the road it but it's a long way from disappearing. Looks dramatic though.
I first used to sit in wait for the sunset before going out to look for crabs more than a decade ago. In those days, I'd take bus 172 down to the end of the road and wander in, emerging near midnight to grab the last bus out. The wind was so cold through the open windows, I'd had to pack a sweater to hold off the cold.
Well, this time I had company, and it was nice introducing an old haunt to new friends.
