So 100km's easy, what next?

Category : cycling

Well my first hurdle is over. I cleared the 100km riding support for Dr William Tan, at the comfortable pace of about 18km/h. My fears about being unable to cope with the distance were unfounded. Happily I was unaffected and I was able to stay up late that night and every night since.

Stats for Sun, 11th July 2004: 6.55am: HV-MR-Toa Payoh Central: Dst 12.79km/h. Tms 0:40;07, Avs 19.0km/h, Mxs 47.5km/h. 8.30am: Toa Payoh-Geylang-PP-Kranji-S'wang-TP-HV: Dst 112.19km, Tms 6:17:26, Avs 17.8km/h, 43.5km/h. So I clocked a total of 125km.

Next step - to be able to do this for three consecutive days.

Reflections at Bukit Chandu holds an interesting exhibit - bicycles! No fancy bikes these were, certainly no mountain bike gears, yet Japanese forces traversed the Malay peninsula in a lightning war that sent this outpost of the British empire reeling, and never to recover.

"It's the rider, not the bike."
