Cemetery Ride

Category : cycling

14 Aug 2005 - Ulu Pandan park connnector - Jalan Bahar - Lim Chu Kang - Kranji Reservoir - Woodlands Road - Clementi Road - Ghim Moh Canal park connector - Holland Villlage.

Cat, Chi and I stopped for Ladybug to get a tosai dinner at Jalan Boon Lay before heading off to Lim Chu Kang Road past the numerous cemetries. The reflective headstones reflected the orange streetlights from opposite the road and looked like burning flames in their midst. We'd pass more cemetries later (Kranji War Memorial and the Holland Close Hakka cemetery, apparently the Yin Foh Kuan Cemetery) so this route could be called the "cemetery ride," especially if we extended it to Kheam Hock Road, an old haunt of mine.

Ride stats: Avs 20.0km/h, Mxs 42.5km/h, Dst 44.5km, Tms 2:13:22.

This was the second decent ride since the recent flu, and it seems I've recovered. Found I was able to maintain the pace on slopes, but it probably helped that the first 17km+ was a flat route and a good warm up.

Average speed was 17.4km/h after 9.5km (Jln Boon Lay), 19.5km/h at ~ 20km (Kranji) and eventually 20.0 km/h by 38km (Bukit Timah).
