Hunt on Wheels 2004

Category : cycling

We sent in three teams from Wheels are Turning: Pretty Fly, WheelsRTurning and Zendogs. A thoughtfully organised event with encouraging organisers. They even gave out medals! Everyone had to pass a first-aid kit inspection which was a very good idea, and pack a bike repair kit. The route was through areas with lots of secondary forest - Kranji, Lim Chu Kang, Tengah and Choa Chu Kang. Made me think of the YJC art students.

Struggling up a slope somewhere in Tengah, riders in other teams encouraged me and one team cheerfully suggested to just get off and push like they were doing! The sun was really blazing away yesterday and the pace a little tough during the 45km race. I consumed about 5 litres of water including my first taste of New Water - 1.05L of it!

Our compass and streetdirectory came in handy and I was with Ye Chen, Mark and Airani who were very good team mates, and we rode a very tight race together.

The sun never let up and after some hesitation, some of us managed to cycle back home, allowing me to clock 75km in total for the day. Good enough substitute for the NUS Centennial Ride training session that I missed.

Erm, the shiny golden thing you see in the photo below is not the trophy, but we were happy with that!
