Jade at macWorld

Category : mac and the internet

Jade at macWorld is pretty funny!

"Microsoft finally did away with their old pavilion look, mostly. For the last few years it was centered around a circular display that was covered with Dadaism, stuff like "free your inner Spock and Kirk on Brokeback Mountain." That has given way to racially balanced pictures of people on Prozac. However, whatever Trekkie they have designing the pavilion added banners, and matching staffer shirts, favoring a "transporter beam" look. They retained the blue flying saucer too. The staffers were friendly, open, and not at all scared of losing their jobs if they said the wrong thing.

"I know WMP isn't a part of the Mac BU, but when you pass on user complaints about how bad WMP sucks, do WMP developers in the Causing Mac Users Pain Group laugh at you or just ignore you?"

"I have never heard any complaints about WMP," came the deadpan reply from a very patient Microsoft employee.

"Really? Are you living a monk-like solitary existenceĐI mean surely you have heard about the lack of hardware acceleration?"

He shook his head honestly and did not call security.

"Do you ever wonder why the Mac WMP group isn't in the Mac BU? Or why the Mac BU is in with the entertainment crap and not the Office group, since that is what you mostly do, office stuff? Is it a conspiracy to keep Apple down, or are you secretly developing a version of Office for the Xbox?"

"The Mac BU is part of the retail unit because our products are sold through retail. The Office group sells more directly to businesses. There is no conspiracy. It's just business."

"They say that on the Sopranos a lot too."

He shrugged and I left defeated to ask a few more questions of other staffers."

Hop on over to Jade at macWorld.
