Skype 2.5 beta for Mac

Category : mac and the internet

Skype for Mac
is catching up with its Windows version - and the recently released 2.5 beta now has SMS! And 10-way conference calling too!

I've been using Skype this past year for calls to landlines and computers in the UK, New Zealand, US, Canada and Australia. Coupled with a World Clock on the menubar, it's been very useful for sorting out things that would otherwise have required lots of emails.

Lekowala is a Skype-aficionado now as well - always quick on the uptake. He has been making computer to computer calls to colleagues - apparently its been fun switching over to Skype to query a colleague when a problem is encountered in a project document! Much better than using the phone.

But I cannot scoff - Skype's sound quality is superior. And if you have headphones on, Skype will pause iTunes until the call is over; how sweet is that?

Meanwhile, I just have to remember to reset my SkypeIn settings - Ling the Merciless called me the other night, doing some mac to mac Skype test. Unfortunately my Skype was off and so her call was routed to my handphone through a Berkeley number! That setup was for my recent US trip. Time to run it off...

Anyway, I have been under the weather these days and am sleeping early. But I woke with a jump, and sprinted to the study to pick up the phone, since it might be an emergency.

Instead I heard her voice echoing through computer and phone lines. Oh well.
