iBook 12.1" 600MHz and the new mac stuff

Category : mac and the internet

I put my old iBook 12.1" 600MHz through a tune up and some system upgrades (to 10.4.10) and it's back in action as a mobile warrior's sidekick. I grabbed it as I rushed out of the house, carrying nothing else. It's a lovely size and a hardy machine.

In the NUS Science Canteen this morning and and the reception of the airport signal is great. This battery life is repectable even though Adrian said he'd give me his relatively new battery from his now kaput 12.1".

640MB RAM is the max on this machine I think, and it seems enough for text-based work although I have been surfing a little.

You see I saw on MobileTV in the bus on the way to work that there are new iMacs and so checked twitter - true enough Kevin's back in action and he tweeted about the live coverage report of the new mac and software announcements on Engadget.

Hopped over to Apple Store Singapore for a look. The new iMovie options are just what I need and Keynote is a no brainer of course. Oddly enough the iLife family pack is listed as $3,834.88 instead of $173.34! Will certainly wait for them to sort that out before ordering! My delay in buying a wireless keyboard has paid off - the new one is much lighter than the old one.
