Macaddict Odessa was explaining compression formats - many formats are available on iTunes and I am just about to begin ripping a whole bunch of CDs. I listen to music at work, mostly when rushing projects through.
I want the best sound I can get, have the hardisk space, use nice (but not excellent) computer speakers and don't intend to copy out songs to a PC. So he suggested I use AAC encoding at 160kbps. And perhaps 192kbps for the classical music CDs for a balance between compression and quality.
I know some mac users in the department listen in to my music at times. I'd better tell them to update their iTunes to version 4.5. Else sharing is no longer possible. Check out this review
